Gloria Estefan speaks at Cuba's Independence Day

MIAMI -- Singer Gloria Estefan is expected to speak at a Miami event to
commemorate Cuba's Independence Day.

The Cuban-born singer will appear Monday at Miami Dade College. In
collaboration with the Foundation for Human Rights in Cuba, she will be
joined by the leader of the dissident group Ladies in White, Berta Soler.

A press release from the statement said Estefan led a march in honor of
the Ladies in White in Miami in 2010.

Other members of the movement, as well as prominent Cuban dissidents and
winners of the European Parliament's Sakharov Prize for Freedom of
Thought, are also expected to attend.

The Conversation with the Ladies in White is scheduled to take place at
the college's National Historic Landmark Freedom Tower.
