MIAMI (MMD Newswire) February 16, 2012 -- The Coast Guard repatriated
108 Haitian migrants to Cap Haitien, Haiti, Thursday, and 14 Cuban
migrants to Bahia de Cabañas, Cuba, Tuesday.
The Haitian and Cuban migrants were interdicted at sea during two
separate events.
The crew of the Boston-based, 270-foot Coast Guard Cutter Spencer
assisted the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Monday in the interdiction of
108 Haitian migrants. The Haitian migrants were repatriated Thursday.
A Coast Guard Air Station Miami aircrew spotted 14 Cuban migrants Friday
in the Florida Straits. The crew of the 110-foot Coast Guard Cutter
Kodiak Island, homeported in Key West, Fla., repatriated the migrants
Tuesday.
