The Coast Guard repatriated 50 migrants aboard the Coast Guard Cutter
William Trump to Cuba after they were stopped while crossing the Florida
Straits.

According to the Coast Guard, there were five interdictions involving 50
migrants aboard unseaworthy vessels.

"The Coast Guard strongly discourages attempts to illegally enter the
country by taking to the sea," Capt. Mark Gordon, Coast Guard 7th
District chief of response enforcement, said in a prepared statement.
"Migrants interdicted at sea will be returned to their country of origin
in accordance with U.S. immigration laws."

This year, 4,462 Cubans who attempted to migrate to the U.S. by sea have
been repatriated, according to the Coast Guard.

In September, 64 Cuban migrants in the Florida Straits were repatriated
in five interdictions.

In August 65 Cuban migrants were repatriated as a result of six Coast
Guard interdictions.
