A boatload of Cuban migrants sailed into George Town Tuesday (25 June),
but most were quickly sent on their way. They landed close to Cassanova
Restaurant and immigration officials were there to meet them.
Deputy Immigration Chief Gary Wong said: "It's an easy gateway for them
to get into the US. Crossing the border into Mexico, then into the US.
From what i've gathered through intelligence and so forth, that's
usually a prearranged thing done by family and friends in the us for them."
After being treating in hospital, the sick traveler will be moved to the
immigration detention centre along with his compatriot who also decided
to seek asylum.
